There are three ceremonies held to honor those completing their Bachelor's degree during the current academic year. Attendance and participation in any of these events is voluntary.
- The university-wide commencement ceremony is an annual all campus event where graduating seniors from all academic disciplines are given a time to come together to celebrate their achievements at UC Berkeley. No names are called and diplomas are not distributed. Details can be found here.
- College and Departmental graduation ceremonies are held beginning in mid-May. Full list of all ceremonies.

Parking
During commencement, visitors may park in designated daytime campus parking lots on a first-come, first-served basis, for $10. The closest campus parking lots to the Greek Theatre are the Foothill Lot (Hearst at Highland Ave.) and Lower Hearst Structure - Level 2 (enter from Scenic Ave.). Please read parking signs carefully.
The Maxwell Garage, a public parking lot on the corner of Stadium Rim Way and Gayley Road, will be selling commencement parking for $25. Parking is also available in the surrounding city public parking lots on the south and west sides of campus; rates and hours vary.
Disabled Parking: All designated disabled spaces and non-reserved spaces will be available at $10 to disabled patrons with certified disabled placards or license plates on a first-come, first-served basis. For guests who would like a shorter distance from their car to the entrance, it is possible for a car to pull up temporarily in the Bowles parking lot and drop off guests at the south gate.
For more information about parking, see the Parking and Transportation website for commencement visitor parking locations for daytime commencement ceremonies at the Greek Theatre. Due to the extreme limitations of on campus and surrounding area parking, we advise guests to use public transportation.

In the week following the ceremony, proof order forms will be mailed to all graduates for viewing. You will also be able to view their proofs and place orders by visiting the GradImages website.
Degree List vs. Commencement List
The degree list is how you officially signal the university that you are ready to graduate and are in the process of completing your final courses for your degree. In order to graduate, you must add yourself to the degree list by the beginning of the semester (the spring, summer, or fall) you expect to complete all of your graduation requirements (e.g., breadth, double major, minor). This is automatically done through Cal Central during your final semester (or by L&S petition, once the semester begins).
The commencement list is the names of all registered graduates that will go into the printed program for the May commencement ceremony. We will update this area soon with who is eligible to participate in this spring's commencement ceremony.
Verification of Your Degree
- Official Transcript: Grades from your final semester appear three to four weeks after the last day of final exams. The date of your degree will appear on your transcript approximately three months after the term in which the degree was conferred. Information about the availability of transcripts showing the degree and how to order transcripts and diplomas.
- Certificate of Completion: If you need proof that you have completed all of your requirements for the degree before your final transcript is available, you can obtain a Certificate of Completion from the College of Letters and Science, 206 Evans Hall. This certificate is available only after all grades from your final semester have been posted to your transcript.
- Letter of Intent: If you expect to graduate at the end of the current term and need to provide verification to a third party, you may request a Letter of Intent to Graduate from the College of Letters and Science, 206 Evans Hall. You must bring with you a Completion of Major memo which you can get from the CS Advising Office in 349 Soda Hall. The Letter of Intent will be generated within 10 working days.
