Travel Expense Information

The EECS Department will provide up to $500 USD to defray the costs of your travel to and from the UC Berkeley Visit Days. To be eligible for payment, travel expenses must fall within the University travel policy. The expenses that will be considered for this travel expense offset are airfare, airport shuttles, rental cars, personal cars, taxis, rideshares, and train fares. Expenses for lodging or meals will not be considered. If you are visiting another university before or after your visit to UC Berkeley, we will provide funds for a fraction of your travel expenses, up to $500 USD.

If you are attending EECS Visit Days with someone who has also been invited, please be aware that each person must purchase their own plane ticket. The name on the receipts and travel itinerary must match the name of the traveler.

The funds to defray your travel costs will be issued in the form of an electronic payment after the completion of your visit to UC Berkeley.

In order to be eligible to receive the funds, you must complete all three items no later than March 31, 2019. Items submitted after this date or incomplete documents will not be accepted or considered for payment.

  1. Email any receipts or documents related to travel expenses you incurred to and from the UC Berkeley Visit Days to visitday@eecs.berkeley.edu(Note there is no letter "s" at the end of "day" in this email address.) This includes a receipt copy of your flight, taxis to and from the airport, BART tickets, etc.
    • Please send all receipts/documents in one email with your name clearly labeled on each document.
    • Documents should show flight itinerary, traveler name, airline or company name, payment amount, and evidence of payment (zero balance, payment type, or marked “PAID”).
    • If you are traveling via personal car, please provide city and state of departure in the body of your email.
    • Include a total amount of all your receipts (the total of your travel costs) in the body of your email.
    • If you plan to have the cost of your travel split with other universities you are visiting, please list those universities in the body of your email.
  2. Complete and submit the Hyperwallet Electronic Payment Information Form.
    • Please make note of your responses in this form, as this information will be used to create an electronic payment account, which you will use to access your funds.
  3. Check-in to Visit Days on Sunday morning, March 10, 2019.
