Lisa Yan receives Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentorship of GSIs

EECS Assistant Teaching Professor Lisa Yan has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentorship of GSIs. The annual award recognizes faculty members who have provided outstanding pedagogical mentorship to GSIs. The award is sponsored by the Graduate Council’s Advisory Committee for GSI Affairs and the GSI Teaching & Resource Center.

Yan received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley in 2015. She received her master’s and Ph.D. from Stanford in 2015 and 2019, respectively, and taught at Stanford as a lecturer before returning to Berkeley to teach in 2022. She is currently teaching CS61C: Machine Structures. Her current research interests are in the applications of machine learning and data analysis techniques to assignments in large computer science courses. Yan is the fourth EECS professor to receive this award, following  Gireeja Ranade in 2023, Anant Sahai in 2015, and Michael Clancy in 2004.
