Call for EECS Big Give Quote & Picture
Show your Berkeley pride during this year's Big Give and share with your Cal community how you’re helping Berkeley’s light shine brighter than ever before. Big Give starts at 9 p.m. PT on Wednesday, March 13, and continues through 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
We're looking for written quotes and photos (and even video submissions!) that shine a light on your experience. It can be about research, EECS or CS classes taken, student organizations, the community you've built and more. It can be general about EECS or specific in highlighting something with EECS or CS that you are affiliated with (i.e. a club, student group, or research center, etc). Step Into Tech: Student Tech Opportunities Fair
UC Berkeley’s IT Community is hosting “Step Into Tech,” a student opportunities fair to introduce students to the tech space at UC Berkeley. Come learn about professional development and hiring opportunities, as well as upcoming events and resources from a wide range of campus IT departments. The fair will take place on March 13th, from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Dwinelle Plaza.
The fair is open to all students. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students of all majors, backgrounds, and interests are encouraged to attend!

- Out for Undergrad is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization designed to help high-achieving LGBTQ undergrads reach their full potential.
- LGBTQ+ engineering students will have the opportunity to discuss being out in the engineering industry and hear from professionals who are out in their careers.
- Students will network with LGBTQ+ peers and professionals from top engineering companies from a wide range of industries across the country.
- Students will have the opportunity to find LGBTQ+ mentors in their field.
- Sponsoring companies will recruit students for jobs and internships at the career fair and throughout the conference.
We have three total rounds for applications but applying early is highly encouraged as all rounds are of rolling admissions, with deadlines on:

Falling Walls Lab
Win a trip to Berlin!
Falling Walls Labs are science/innovation slams that take place worldwide. Young researchers, students, and entrepreneurs can pitch their innovative ideas or research that creates a positive impact on science and society to an interdisciplinary jury that will select the winner. Topics can be broad and are not limited to engineering and science. All winners of the Labs worldwide will be invited to the Falling Walls Conference in Berlin in November with all expenses paid.

if you're passionate about teaching and mentoring and want to help design content in electrical engineering and research for high school students, consider joining the Science Mentorship Institute as a curriculum developer and/or mentor in the Electrical Engineering Mentorship Program! We are debuting a new Electrical Engineering Research Mentorship Program for Summer 2024 and are looking for motivated, passionate individuals to help us develop this program and make it a success. We are looking for the following positions, anticipating around 5 hour/week commitment through the Spring 2024 Semester. Each position will develop didactic content (including lectures, Canvas modules, and journal clubs) about their area of expertise as well as electrical and computer engineering research in general.

In addition, we are looking for volunteers to provide meaningful mentorship in electrical and computer engineering research skills and methods to underrepresented high school students in a completely virtual format throughout the Summer 2024 semester. We rely on volunteers like you to provide equitable and accessible science education. All roles are no more than a 5 hour/week commitment over the summer, and the times are flexible based on your availability. These opportunities serve as great resources to gain new skills and expand your portfolio/resume, as we track volunteer hours.

Center for Financial Wellness (formerly Bears for Financial Success) offers peer to peer financial wellness support through workshops and one-on-one appointments. Topics regarding financial wellness, include creating a spending plan, understanding credit score and credit report, managing credit cards, saving and banking, moving out of the dorms, and eating on a budget.

Basic Needs Center team is committed to fostering belonging and justice on the UC Berkeley campus through a robust model that includes both short-term emergency relief and long-term support services addressing students’ basic needs.
