Faculty Office Hours Policy
Faculty members have a responsibility to establish and keep regular office hours. While there is no explicit number of hours required by campus policy, the Center for Teaching & Learning recommends that at least one of the hours should be a Monday, Wednesday or Friday and another hour on a Tuesday or Thursday. They also recommend staggering office hours with your teaching assistant(s), and letting students know that you are also available by appointment (giving out your email address is a convenient way to schedule appointments). If you have to miss your scheduled office hours, you should give students advance notice and post a note on your door.
We are working hard to improve the quality of our advising and improve student access to faculty outside of class. Thank you for your help in this effort!
Once you have determined your office hours, you or your assistant can enter them into the EECS Faculty Database Update Form and can immediately print a door card to post outside your office.
