EECS graduate student Wentao Xu, member of Prof. Jessica Boles’ research group, has received the Piezo MEMS Design Challenge Innovation Award at the IEEE MEMS 2026 International Conference.

Wentao conducts research in power electronics and is currently exploring how piezoelectric resonators may be used as power passive components to enable major advances in the miniaturization and performance of power electronic systems.

The Piezo MEMS Design Challenge is open to students enrolled at academic institutions worldwide, and it is hosted by STMicroelectronics and A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME).
