Somayeh Sojoudi elevated to IEEE Fellow

Somayeh Sojoudi, Associate Professor-in-Residence of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and Mechanical Engineering, has been named an IEEE Fellow in the class of 2026 “for contributions to optimization and learning techniques for complex systems.”

The IEEE Fellow distinction is the highest grade of membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and is conferred upon individuals with exceptional records of accomplishment in IEEE fields of interest. Each year, fewer than 0.1% of IEEE voting members are elevated, making it one of the most prestigious honors in the engineering community.

Sojoudi’s research spans optimization theory, machine learning, control, and power systems. Her research has been recognized with multiple awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the ONR Young Investigator Award.
