CS alumna Xiaoye Sherry Lee is elected Vice President-At-Large of SIAM
CS alumna Xiaoye Sherry Li (Ph.D. ‘96; Advisor: James Demmel) has been elected as Vice President-At-Large of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
Li’s two-year term began on January 1, 2024. Li was named a SIAM Fellow in 2016 and has since served as Co-Chair for both SIAM’s Conference on Computational Science & Engineering in 2017 and Workshop on Combinatorial Scientific Computing in 2020.
In addition to her work with SIAM, Li is currently a Senior Scientist and Group Lead at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) where she is the lead developer of the SuperLU package, a widely used sparse direct solver.
