Commencement

If you wish to participate in the EECS spring commencement ceremony, you must fill out the College of Engineering’s Commencement Participation Form. Throughout the spring, details about the ceremony will be updated on the commencement website. If you have any other questions about commencement, please contact engineeringcommencement@berkeley.edu

Certificate of Completion

Certificates of Completion are automatically generated by the Graduate Division system and emailed to students as soon as all steps in the filing process have been completed AND all requirements have been met on the student’s Academic Progress Report. Note: The system takes 2-4 business days for you to receive the certificate of completion.

If you did not receive a certificate of completion, please email Allison Torres, Student Academic Advisor at allisontorres@berkeley.edu for further assistance.

Transcripts & Diplomas

Degrees are posted on the official transcript approximately three months after the end of the term.
Schedule for Receiving Diploma:

  • Fall Graduate: Early April
  • Spring Graduate: Early September
  • Summer Graduate: Early December

Diplomas will be sent to the mailing address listed in Cal Central. If you no longer have access to campus systems, fill out the Diploma Mailing Request Form.
Note: The name on your diploma will appear as it was recorded from your application for admission to UC Berkeley. You may change your name of record by providing a driver’s license or passport, or record of a legal name change.
For more information on name change requests on diplomas or ordering transcripts, please visit the Office of the Registrar forms.

Berkeley Email

Alumni have nine months after leaving Berkeley to convert their student email account to an alumni account with the same address, attachments, emails, and files. If the account isn’t claimed, it will be shut down and attachments, emails, and files are deleted.

To convert your student email account to an alumni, please Register with @cal after graduation and transition your student account to an alumni account. The address will remain the same, nothing in your account will change, and the process is fast and easy.

For more information on your email account, please visit Berkeley Email FAQs.

Equipment Return and Building Access Guidelines

Department Laptop: if you were issued an EECS laptop, you must return the laptop to the person whose funds paid for it. This will most likely be your advisor.

Card Key: your card key will be deactivated. If you still need access, your advisor must authorize this with the Soda Hall (393 Soda) and/or Cory Hall (253 Cory) building managers. If you have any keys, please return them. If you have any questions, please email keys@eecs.berkeley.edu.

Mail: update your USPS deliveries to your new address for students in Soda Hall and Cory.

Update Contact Information: please update your address in the Registrar’s system through Cal Central, and, if you were a GSI or GSR and expect to receive a W2 for the current tax year, also in the Payroll system through Blu (go to People, update personal information, Home and mailing address).
