Over the course of the two-day workshop, there will be 4 Job Talk Starts sessions, each with 7 or 8 Zoom rooms per session.  There will be 4 to 5 presenters per room plus faculty mentors and support staff.

During these sessions:

  • You will present the first 7 minutes of your job talk
  • In it, you should introduce yourself and provide an overview of your research contributions, goals, and long-term vision
  • You can present slides along with your talk via desktop sharing on Zoom
  • You will receive feedback from faculty mentors and participants for 5 minutes following your talk
  • You can record your individual Job Talk Start presentation and feedback session yourself through Zoom (we will not be recording this for you)
  • Staff will be present in the Job Talk Starts Zoom rooms to keep time and help facilitate the flow of presentations
